What is an FIS?

Did you know...?

...that your local Families Information Service acts as a central information point which supports parents and carers who need childcare.

This includes those with children with disabilities and also holds up to date details of local childcare and early year's provision in your area. As of April 2008 your local Families Information Service now provides a range of information on all services available to parents to help them support their children up to their 20th birthday.  25th if your child has a disability.

Your local Families Information Service will have close links with Children's Centres, Jobcentre Plus, Schools, Connexions, Youth clubs and Libraries so that they can better support you when you need it.

So give your local service a call and they will put together an information pack, which will be tailored to suit your specific needs. The best thing is... the service is completely FREE!!

And if you would like help putting you in contact with your local Family Information Service then contact us here at the National Association of Family Information Services on 0207 9534085 or use the following weblink.
